City Recognized in Top 50 Leading Fleets for 2018

Cape Coral’s Fleet Management Division has earned a spot on the list of “Top 50 Leading Fleets” for 2018 by Government Fleet magazine and the American Public Works Association.

The awards program recognizes government fleet operations that are performing at a high level, particularly in fleet leadership, competitiveness, efficiency, planning for the future and overcoming challenges. The 50 leading fleets represent the best in the industry.

“This award highlights the ongoing efforts of Fleet Manager Marilyn Rawlings and her staff to have one of the best fleets in the industry,” said City Manager John Szerlag. “They have made significant progress in the past few years to earn this recognition.”

This is the first time Cape Coral has been recognized as a “Top 50 Leading Fleets”. These fleets will be recognized in San Diego at the Government Fleet Expo and Conference in June.

In 2017, the City was ranked No. 76 on the “100 Best Fleets” list, which was announced at the NAFA Institute and Expo.

Fleet Management is a division within the Public Works Department. Fleet Management is responsible for equipment services including: vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, governmental and environmental compliance, specification development, acquisition, disposal, and the purchase of fuel for City vehicles and equipment. The City’s fleet is comprised of over 1600 vehicles and equipment.
