Join Clerk of Court Linda Doggett on Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lee County Public Library - Cape Coral for a free seminar – Be Your Own Detective.

Learn how to search and view Lee County’s civil and criminal court documents and public records for free on the Clerk’s website. View mortgages, property deeds, marriage licenses.  Learn how to pay traffic tickets online; access the county’s financial and audit reports; find where you can participate in foreclosure and tax deed auctions; postpone jury duty; and report suspected guardianship fraud and more.

Searching public records can help with investigating landlords and tenants; businesses and medical providers.   Learn how to register for the free Property Fraud Alert feature and how to redact your private information from public records in accordance with state law.

“We always encourage our citizens to take every precaution to avoid becoming a victim of a scam  or abuse,” Doggett said. “Searching your public records can help you avoid dangerous situations with the wrong people.”
