Lot Mowing and Pepper Tree Schedule
The City of Cape Coral has a voluntary lot mowing program to maintain the large number of vacant lots in the City. Property owners can enroll in the program and pay a nominal fee for seven mows per year.

The City's contractor uses large, industrial mowing equipment to clear the vacant properties. They do not trim and edge the lots to the same degree as a private homeowner may maintain his/her property. Their equipment is designed to do as large an area as possible in the shortest amount of time.  However, certain conditions may affect their ability to complete the work.  Trash, rocks, yard waste, holes, parked cars and boats will hinder the work and result in a less than desired final outcome. Please follow the City codes and do not leave debris or vehicles on vacant lots.

If you have any questions or concerns about vacant lots in the city, please call our Citizen's Action Center at 574-0425, or use our online Center to report a problem or issue.

SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Pepper Trees

The Pepper Tree Program is for the removal of Brazilian Pepper trees and other exotic plants located on unimproved properties throughout the City of Cape Coral.  Cleared vacant properties are then maintained via the City's Lot Mowing Program.  Material is extracted using a mechanical rake or front end loader.  The material is then chipped using a large grinder capable of pulverizing vegetation into mulch.  The mulch is then spread over vacant lots to decompose.

Attached you will find the Pepper Tree Schedule for 2010-2012.  The non-shaded areas north of State Road 78 are candidates for the Pepper Tree eradication program, but are not scheduled for the three (3) year plan.  They would be scheduled for 2013 or beyond.
