Beginning in 2005, the Economic Development Office forged a relationship with the FGCU Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to establish a satellite office near City Hall.
The Small Business Development Center is a non-profit organization. The SBDC is just one part of the Center of Leadership and Innovation, operated by Florida Gulf Coast University's Lutgert College of Business and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
It serves to design and deliver a collection of programs directed toward strengthening the economic benefit of Southwest Florida.
The Cape Coral satellite office is staffed during business hours. Services include confidential, free one-to-one counseling, educational workshops, and support of the activities of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Over the years, the Cape SBDC has counseled hundreds of businesses – from startups to expansions.
